Dr. Amaya Igartua, Coordinator of Materials Initiatives,represents TEKNIKER and EUMAT, joined us as our ambassador.
Short description of the organisation
TEKNIKER is a research institute located in Eibar, Spain, specialized in Manufacturing, covering the design and material transformation of advanced materials to provide solutions to the industry. In the field of light materials, TEKNIKER’s activities are mainly focused on the sustainable transportation, energy strategic markets and health, and involve the development of protective coatings for light alloys, functional thin film coatings for composites and additive manufacturing for titanium alloys and composites.
Additionally, TEKNIKER covers the mechatronic design of advanced equipment for mechanical recycling and recovery of composites. Multiscale material characterization services are also provided to guarantee the functionality of the solutions developed by TEKNIKER. This involves both the early R&D stage (lab-scale structural and chemical material characterization) and the transition stage (tribological and mechanical properties under extreme environments (corrosion, high temperature, vacuum) and specific bench-testing) linked to the component performance.

Secondly, the ambassador represents the European Platform EUMAT – European Technology Platform for Advanced Engineering Materials and Technologies, which was created in 2004, with near 1000 members. The mission of EUMAT is to establish R&D&I priorities in the field of Advanced Materials and their technologies with optimal involvement of academia, research, and industry, as well as other societal stakeholders. EUMAT promotes a consolidated and unified European policy governing research, development, and innovation in this area.
EUMAT develops contributions to public consultations, organizes workshops, and is actively collaborating with Horizon Europe projects. EUMAT offers its dissemination channels to entities external to the platform.
