Adaptable compressed hydrogen storage tank system for vehicle space optimization

Innovative hydrogen storage tank system with adaptable shape to improve integration in transport applications.

ADAPTANK aims to develop a storage system based on innovative technology of adaptable tanks, that can be easily accommodated inside the vehicle architecture, as its shape can be designed to fit efficiently in the available space. With this technology, a hydrogen-powered vehicle can store the compressed hydrogen inside the panels of the fuselage and wings. Moreover, the tank can also play a double function, as part of the load bearing structure of the aircraft and other mobility vehicles. The tanks utilize carbon fiber tubes as pressure vessels with a patented distribution system. The designs are created using a parametric optimization tool to increase efficiency. This allows ADAPTANK to enhance space efficiency, structural integrity, and safety.
